Duration: 21.00 - 24:00

Tide: HW 19:30

Weather: clear, slight breeze from the west

Bait: frozen razorfish

Rigs: single hook pulley, 3 hook flapper

Results: 2 Doggies, 2 Flounder, 1 Bass

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report: After the comp on Saturday, thought I'd better try and improve my scratching techniques, so armed with two rods I set out to see what I could catch. Decided to fish one rod with the single hook at distance and my old rod with the 3 hooks close in. First two casts on the distance rod, had the tip bouncing, the line going slack and the bait being dropped, which was very dissapointing, but heartening all the same. Had a couple of knocks on subsequent casts, but it then went quiet for a while before I pulled in a doggy. After another 10 minutes, noticed my close in rod wandering down the beach, so pulled it in with a nice fat flounder in tow. A quick recast with the same bait had another smaller flounder.
Quiet then for a while on both rods for half an hour or so. Picked up another doggy on the distance rod, then about 15 minutes later my close in rod started jumping around and going off down the beach. Reeled in a nice schoolie bass of about 2lbs. Fished both rods in close for the final 45 minutes or so, but no more bites.

Wish I'd had the bag for the comp on Saturday :lol: . Good experience anyway, fished the close in rod like a competition. Think I'll need to change my rigs slightly, with longer snoods and it's amazing how many more fish I pick up when I'm not standing beside petekd and his fish magnet :lol:

yes it was very nice to see them all take razor, especially considering that is all I had with me :lol: and it saves me having to go dig lug.

Razorfish rocks on that beach alright, especially if theres a bit of movement in the water. Nice one Lee, fair play. I was at home nursing a tummy bug, sorry I didnt make the effort but in fairness, I would have been glad of the chesties if I had.... :oops: :D

nice one lee.. If you were beside me at the comp you would have seen some good scratching.. Flatties are a speciality of mine.. doggies can and very often swim in with the bait so you dont realise you have one until you lift it out of the water.. They like so sit on the bait and chew it..

steve, i totally agree...u have got plenty of time to scratch (your arse) in between fish bites up there in galway...i suppose u have gotten someway good at it :wink: :lol:
