Garfish Style lure

#1 Post by shambobala »

I bought a triple jointed imitation garfish lure in Italy last week (mainly coz i can't seem to pass a tackle shop without buying something these days and secondly coz it looked nice), however on mature reflection i'm starting to wonder what i might be able to use this 9" monster for ... anyone used such a thing?

(can't find a suitable pic anywhere on web) found it:

Hi! I was given one to try, by Dennet Outdoor. I had great success with it, first time of trying! Nice 3 & 1/2 lb bass it without hesitation. I guess it thought it a sand eel. I might even start to stock them!

Saw a garfish of around 3lb caught down in Ventry, German Lad using a floated makerel strip. Have never seen one since, still trying anytime I'm near the South Coast.

I too bought one of these mad looking things in Kos last week, (cos i just had too  ) i span with it for about half an hour and all it did was attract more small garfish, i found it didnt cast very well either as it kept turning in on it self in mid air, i also got another really crazy looking lure but it was as areo-dynamic as a head of cabbage...

there were a fair amount of garfish around fenit this year might be handy to note it for next year.

those things look like they would be the business for bass. or pollock esp the silver and red one

I heard the same and a mark I am fishing this weekend in Kerry has a good number of them being caught. We had loads of them one year about 5 years ago and then just 1's n 2's since so maybe they have better years for growth etc like most fish.
