Hi All
In july eoin and i decided that it was time to invest in a bigger boat to explore further afield for both pike, trout and sea fishing. After looking at all the options over a month or so we went for an Orkney Strikeliner 16+.
The boat came with a 25hp mercury engine, DSC radio, Garmin 120 fish finder and we added a new aux engine ( a yamaha 5hp) and a garmin GPS76.
There was lots we wanted to add to it too so we put on new grab rails, new masthead bracket, new seat covers, trolling rests, side cutting board, radar reflector and a ladder. plus some new rods reels and a ton of new tackle.
We christened her "The Frying Dutchman" and below are a few pics of her first outing (before we added the extras) on the shannon

on sunday we got her out from howth to test out the new engine and the general feel of the boat at sea. we also wanted to pick up some macks to stock up on and to test her at anchor for dogs and huss.
trip went pretty well and the morning was spent knocking about with my fiancee and my dad heading out to lambay and dolphin watching etc.
after lunch i dropped them off and picked up eoin and we headed north to anchor up. the anchor held well enough and we had a steady succesion of big mackeral (picking up ledgered mack strips  ) whiting, dogs and huss to 7lbs

the weather was excellent and it was a lovely sunset to round off a successful first trip.

Strikeliners are lovely boat and that one looks very clean. Best of luck with her, she'll bring you to some great angling.
Have a 16ft longliner myself and only had her 3 years and have had a stack of fun with it already
