People: petekd and me

Duration: 20.30ish 23.30ish

Tide: falling to low

Weather: very calm, warm

Bait: frozen razorfish

Rigs: single hook flapper for me, not sure about Pete and spinners

Results: 1 dogfish to me, nothing for Pete

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report:
Still on a quest to get my first bass this year - picked the wrong week to go down to Garretstown and do that. Far from ideal conditions as it was so damn nice there. Flat calm sea, tide falling to low, bright moonlight, no air movement - not suprised I didn't catch a bass.
Well at least I managed a dogfish which curled itself into a tight little ball and pretty much rolled back out to sea when I returned it. Gives me bragging rights over Pete for a day or two anyway as he failed to catch anything and he had three rods in the water most of the time 8)
AFter a bit of chat and no more fish action, we decided to have a few casts across the beach as I had no idea what distances I was doing with my new setup (mag elite and viper) and still getting into the swing of casting with a multiplier. A first easy cast with a lot of mag gave me just over the hundred paces/yards. Pete then managed one of about 120 on his. The challenge was on :!:
He then hit almost 150 with his next one, so I turned the mag right down and fired it out to give myself an almighty birds nest - new spool please...
Despite what he'd just seen, ever the sportsman, Pete handed me his rod and told me to have another go.
I managed about 20 yards and was only save a snapoff as the drag was set quite low when I had forgotten to click the button for my cast.
Against the mounting evidence and what might be considered against better judgement, Pete montioned me on for another cast. During my last abortive cast I must have knocked the mag off, so my next cast sailed out. It was going well, but wasn't prepared when it landed and birdied up at the end of the cast. However, I'd managed to match Pete being just shy of 150 - albeit ending the competition and trip with the badly birdied reels
Just wait until I try a pendulum cast.........

Here, I thought you were going to brag about catching a doggie and I was going to respond with the birdie story..... Beautiful evening down there, but hopeless fishing conditions, only brought razorfish with us so our options were somewhat limited on the fishing front.

Lee in his modesty neglected to tell about his good samaritan act for the evening (year....) when he lent some young one his headlamp as she had dropped her camera earlier on the beach. After an hour or so and with concern growing about the fate of the headlamp, she reappeared out of the blue having found said camera. Nice one Lee....
Fluff chucking is the new black..... Rampant Wreckfish is a fly angler in denial :D

He lamped a young one? Good on him....
Its called fishing, not catching. If it was called catching it wouldn't be fishing!
