I havn't personally but I'm sure it's fine for fishing, it's built for the heavy stuff.

I use the 7500 CTC3 (without a level wind ) and it is one of my favorite reels matched with 30 pound Shimano technium line for targeting smooth hounds ( Gummy Sharks ) and Mulloway down here in Australia.

Top reel . :D

Okuma,

I will give you a tip regarding the Abu 7500....back in the north east of England everyone used them on the shore....they are a very good reel.

Most people would have 20lb line minimum....some would use 25lb or 30lb as normal.....that reel may be a bit wild with 18lb line on it....taking into account line diameter is a lot less now than it used to be.....we would also take 2 of the blocks out and run the reel on 2.....get your thumb ready 8)

Good Luck.

Tom.
