Results: 2 bass, 10 macks
Catch and Release:: kept 1 bass and macks
Report:
Headed out early on Friday morning for a bit of spinning with my new 3 piece travel rod. Conditions were good with a calm sea and overcast sky but the water was full of weed, haven't seen it this bad before and I've been fishing this spot for years. After about 10 casts, got caught in a snag, gave the rod a little tug and the rod fell apart in my hands :x
I had taken a day off work and was determined not to waste it so went back to the car, drove home, got another rod and back down to the spot with the sweat pouring off me. Was rewarded with a bass of over 5lbs on a shad (pilchard imitation I think) and plenty of mackerel.
Headed back out the same spot on Monday morning and had 1 more bass of about 3lbs on another shad. No sign of mackerel this time though.

Rory,
nice catch mate. :)
you should name and shame the manufacturer.
i would recommend shimano as i have several travel rods and had no problems.
wouldn't it be funny if it was a shimano now
