Hi lads is there any where i can get wreck locations, i have turned the internet upside down and cant find anything, i do all my fishing out of ballycotton and was wondering if there is any wrecks not too far from the shore there, pm me if you think thats better.

Is it GPS locations you are after?

Note this site only works in Internet Explorer, it does work in Firefox browser that I normally use.

Hi thanks for the help trev but i still couldnt get any info from that site, like that irish wrecks online site has a lot of wrecks on it but no gps locations, like is there charts or sumthing you can buy to show you wreck locations and stuff

Hi Tom,

Actually some of the wrecks do have GPS on irish wrecks on line. Try clicking on some of the wrecks listed. There looks to be only one clickable link for the cork area :

If you get some wreck names on irish wrecks online and search the other site I mentioned you will get GPS for example wreck - 'Enda' (51°15,825N 01°36,690E) you will get the GPS that way.

I wouldn't take a whole pile of notice of coordinates posted on websites at best they are mostly just approximate and just taken from admiralty charts.
The only one listed for Cork the "Bardini Reefer" can be clearly seen at low water as part of the wreck dries out, so wouldn't be hard to find :wink:

Hi lads that wreck is in bantry bay between castletownbere and beare island iv actually seen it before bit of a steam from ballycotton haha, like id love to know how anyone finds wreck to fish and how and where would i find charts that show wrecks

If you contact the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office at 01823 337900 ext 3308 ( Ring 00441823 337900 ) they can supply the most recent listings of all wrecks within whatever area you want . I found them very helpful and for a small fee you'll get all the info you want !!

All cack! There are very few wrecks that are where they are listed. Some no longer exist. Some buried in sand, Most record where last radio transmission ended. Some where they sank and have since moved. Some don't even hold many fish. Hydrographic office lends little new information in my experience. Only propper ways to find wrecks is to go out and systematicly search for them, hassle trawlermen and divers. If they were common knowledge there would be no fish on them and every clown with a rod would be on them.

Rule no. 1 - Keep your eyes and ears open (Its good to talk but more important to listen :wink: )

Rule no. 2 - Be diilagent. read books, read mags, look at maps, understand currents in the area, read diving websites study photos.

Rule no 3 - Always be on the watch for ribs and what they are up to. If the stop ask yourself why? If they get in the water tear after them and mark their position. Be crafty. It pays off... :wink:
