People: Myself

Duration: 3hrs

Tide: Low water up

Weather: Sunny and breezy

Bait: Plugs

Rigs: 20lb braid and 15lb flourocarbon trace

Results: 4 bass to 5lb

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report: An electrical fault in work left me with a free afternoon so it was with no hesitation that I hit Balagan point at the mouth of Carlingford lough. I fished a mark that I suspected would produce a fish on the flood. I was absolutely delighted to find a small group of bass feeding very hard. At first I though they might be mullet, but on closer inspection they were most definitely bass! On went a small sammy slider and out it went. It was absolutely nailed by a fish of around 3lb which gave a brilliant account of itself in the shallow water. I followed this up with a fish around the same size, another a little smaller and finished up with a beautiful fish around the 5lb mark before it all went quiet. Hopefully, this mark reproduces this form at the weekend for the fly and lure festival! Pictures to follow.
