Galway Bay SAC outing Lil'killary 06/08/07
People:me, nige, corbyeire, fishinmidget, chrisfeeney30, eointarmey8, and danny (non-sai member)
Duration:4ishpm - 9ishpm
Tide:low around 4:20pm
Weather:clear sunny slight breeze
Bait:mack sandeel
Rigs:various
Results: thornback ray, dogfish, conger, dab, grey gurnard, whiting and mackerel
Catch and Release:: Yes(except mack)
Report:
the club outing was meant to be held at Gurteen, but on arrival to the road that leads down to Gurteen it was obvious that (a)the carpark was full, and (b) the beach was packed.. the cars were literally parked all the way up to the main road with little space to pass and no space to park.. so after a quick decision we decided that it would be pointless to attempt the treck down to the beach, so back in the cars and off to little killary..
yet again cars were parked all over the place, but with a bit of cheek we found a nice parking place well away from all the rest..
fishing started off good with rays coming in and then doggies.. while releasing one of the ray i could see conger eels swimming near the rocks..
and being totally unprepaired with the location i rigged up a quick handline and pulled out a nice conger :D
a couple of flatties appeared to the lads and grey gurnards seemed to be plentiful about the place... and no sign of the Labrador :shock:
corbyeire with a nice thornie(his first from what i hear)

well it wasn't too bad i suppose.......I'm happy with my ray and doggie(improvement since the last 2 times i was there) but i am not accepting Steve's conger as counting as he is constantly telling me and Chris down the slip "fish caught on a handline don't count" :twisted: :twisted: .
