The new Zziplex Primo Match

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

The new Zziplex Primo Match

#1 Post by Norfolk and Goode »

Just wondering lads, Have any of you heard any reports of this new rod from Zziplex?

I believe it's supposed to be one of the new match rods from the Zziplex stable and apparently one of the better match ones? I was looking at the review from http://www.ukhooks.com which is very positive, but then that could be just the sales pitch.

Any views would be really appreciated.

I can feel a new match rod in my water and was looking one with a good tip for showing bites from scratching for small flounder to double dogs and rays if I'm lucky, but also the backbone to throw 5ozs a long way if needed over mixed ground.

I asked Neil Mackellow for advice before I ordered the "Match" version and this is what I was told " Make sure you get the shorter butt version, there was a 7ft butt version and it didn't feel right to me, the shorter butt felt much better" the ones I ordered have the 6'4" butt, the length of the tip is the same as the Synchro but it has a much softer action.

I plan to build one next week as a try-out, I will report back after one or two of the guys has tried it out.

i have my eye on one of these, very nice rod, a little softer than the primo, but mostly in the tip...a fine rod in my eyes..

Rockhopper, did you manage to get your primo match built? What did you think of it when you got to try it?

I bought one, it's now my favourite zzipy! Superb action, sits well in a big swell without pulling the lead out of the bottom. Great tip for scratching but doesn't struggle putting a lead at distance. Very user friendly. WOW!

I would highly recommend this rod to anyone.
