I live in Cork City and am hoping to do some shore angling tomorrow. I heard Rochespoint lighthouse is a good spot to catch a bit of variety. Only thing is, last time I ventured down that direction I think the light house was all fenced off. Do people fish off the rocks...and if so....how do you get down to them.

Also, any suggestions of good spots in the Rochespoint, Ballycotten area? I'm bringing a newbie with me somewhere easily accessable (like a pier)with parking close by would be good.

Got up and went digging bait in that spot just beyond Cobh at about 12pm....got lots of blow lug and a few rag. Got home at about 2pm and got myself something to eat. Headed off again towards Ballycotten at about 4.30. Got delayed by the Tunnel works and so arrived in Ballycotten around 5.30. Drove down to the pier and parked. The pier was all blocked off...looks like they're rebulding it. For the next 45 minutes I asked locals and drove around for other fishing spots. Typically, the weir was completely jammers and so I didn't bother going down. The few good spots in the rocky bathing areas were also fully occupied. It's now 7, i'm at home and feel it's been a waste a day. Rant over.

unlucky - youll have them days - you think youve taken care of everything - and then it all goes end up

but i suppose it puts the unplanned days in perspective that turn out brilliant!
