#1 Post by lumpy »

anybody recomend a good water proof bib and brace.i have an anyfish anywhere bib and brace which i knew wasnt totally waterproof but as i found out today while fishing in heavy rain they take on water like a spongue.

also have many people tried the ron thompson beach shelter,as with our climate getting wetter i think i'll have to bite the bullet and buy ony for the winter

cheers, neil

i'm not sure of a good bib and brace but i can tell you of one to stay away from, the Abu Garcia is one to avoid ,i'm still using it at the moment but as soon as the heavier weather (like it can get any heavier  )rolls in i'll be changing to something else.

bib

Me again Lumpy!
The greys bib is great. Never had a leak yet. They are a bit warm for high summer use though (granted at the moment they are perfect  )

I will check out the model of my Sioen bib that I use in the summer months. Unbelieveble gear! Light as a feather and still waterproof after years of abuse. I think I'll get a new pair, they come only in green or yellow. They are a "windbreaker" material. Any safety crowd that do "flexothane" gear should be able to get you one.

Hi Lumpy. Veals are selling off a Shimano Bib and Brace cheap in their summer bargains section. Dont know how good they are though. The Ron Thompson beach buddy does the job admirably for the price.

RT beach shelters are great, as for the B & B, I have a pair of Snowbee ones I picked up on Ebay from Davison Boats for a song (30 euro). They retail at a damn sight more than that but are absolutely top notch. Fully waterproof with reinforced seat and knees. Washed loads of times and still totally waterproof. Might be worth seeing if you could find something online as retail wise you're probably looking at 130+.

I'd recommend the new imax one's, Brushed cotton so you dont get that nylon rasping noise when walking down the beach, these are silent. They also have 1 zipped slit down each side when you can unzip for extra ventilation in the summer if needed but in winter you just keep them closed. If you do get too warm you can zip off the braces and just wear them as a pair of trousers. A really well thought out piece of kit IMHO. I really cant fault them. 100% wind and waterproof also which is helpful although I haven't had a chance to wear them in the rain yet.

The Shimano 1's are good also, I have 2 pair although they are very heavy for summer use.
