Tullagh Rocks

#1 Post by MackDaddy »

People:Brother and Myself

Duration:4.00pm-9.00pm

Tide:Out, then coming in (funny enough that)

Weather:uber bright

Bait:lug, cockle

Rigs:sliding float rig and hand line

Results:1 Pollack on the float (real fishing), 8 Shanny and 1 shore rocking on the cockle

Catch and Release::Yes, apu

Report:Had to get the bus up to the caravan this weekend so after the 4 hours traveling I was hoping for an awesome day out. Fished the rocks to the left of Tullagh bay and thought we were in for a cracker when on the first cast I yoinked out a nice pollack from about 3 meters out on the sliding float and lug. After that it went quiet and we thought we'd try a mark further on round to try and pop my wrasse cherry this year (the wee bro has had two so far :evil: )
No joy after about an hour so we went hunting in the rockpools to target the little'uns. Cockle cleaned up for us and we only used two for all the fish! Four Shanny each and I got the Rockling.

Good fun but a bit of a walk back home!

Blanked at Lenan Pier on Sunday morning/afternoon. It was so bright we could see the bottom from the end of the peir (and all the little baby pollack nosing our bait) Seen a Ray lying dead on the bottom just at the foot of the pier actually. Cant say if it was fished for and put back dead or caught in commercial gear but everytime I go to that Pier something upsets me :evil: Birds nests galore plus bags of rubbish too. :cry:

Anyways, here's the pic's...

Leenan Pier is used by some locals as a dump for thier household waste! :(

Mind you anglers can hardly complain as many of our number use Irelands coastline as a dump as well.
