Report:Decided to take a run on sat night to waterfoot and see what the crack was. The harbour side of the wall was full with people and we took a chance and set up round the back, just as well we had lights with us. Was about midnight before the first cast and not long after we heard someone shouting "Tope Tope", I went round and everyone was gathered around a guys catch which was not a Tope but a Ray of some sort.
Dogs started to hit us soon after and the bites were consistant. The mate also took a small Dab and Small Codling from the same spot. Most of the others were catching plenty of Dogs too. By 4am only 2 other guys were still there, so we moved round to the main side and that was my catching finished. The mate still managed another cple of dogs but it was def slower. He then got 2 macks while doing a bit of spinning.
Near 6 or so 3 guys turned up and one of them about Rays and told him what the one caught earlier looked like and he confirmed it was a cockoo ray. I just noticed to by reading a report on site that it was alannelson that i talking too. Nice to meet you Alan. We left about 6.30 am.

I must also point out that the harbour was a disgrace with rubbish , incl 2 dead plaice, mack heads, guts, and other bait just strewn about. Bags, line, hooks. bottles etc threw at peoples back sides. We lifted much of it as we could and placeed it in the bin. I could not walk through that mess all night. Some people should be ashamed with themselves.

i argree 100% m8 carrick harbour is the exact same.

think everywhere is similar ballylumford which is usually ok had empty prawn wrappersbeer tins and rags lying about last weekend and last night

was totally disgusted with carrick harbour last week if you want to take a drink on an all nighter fair enough but i cant see why people cant take empty cans and bottles home..

the biggest thing i cant understand is why leave dead rag lying about when finished if theres no one about to give it too is it too hard to throw into the tide (wee bit of ground bait to help the next man :P )

must admit mr green i lv fishin for mackeral down at da carrick harbour but at the end of the nyt the place is lyk a dump. it will get to the point wer the council will not let us fish there. and nelson and every1 else who fishes on the harbour will agree

Alan, If you think that was bad when you arrived, we had already removed several bags of the worst of it. INCL 2 nice Plaice which someone had just dumped. 2 guys about your age had also lifted a load even though they seemed a bit "High" hehe. They still picked up way more than their fair share. Think you missed them by 5 mins or so. Seemed 2 be decent blokes. The other guy that was there as well had not long arrived and was saying he had to leave Downhill beach because a dozen or so idiots were throwing stuff at him and his car on the beach, said he had to call the police to get back onto the beach to lift his gear.
