People: just me

Duration:3hours

Tide:lw up

Weather:mild with a bit of rain

Bait:mackeral and sandeel

Rigs:pulley rig size 3 hook

Results:one plaice

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report:
The wife wanted to a wee walk around the town, so she took the wee lass and i dropped them into the town centre. It was at this point i got a shock as the wife suggested that i go fishing for a few hours as long as I could pick her from her mother by 3.30pm. Was home in a flash, fried up the pc, checked the tides and saw that Fahan was fishable(lw at 12pm) so gear packed and off i went. Got to the manria at about 11.30am and spent 30minutes watching the large mullet crusing around inside the manira (pity your not allowed to fish inside the manria). Set off down the beach until i got to the bend and set up, blasted out a sandeel/mackeral combo and waited, and waited. With the crabs active and with the tide starting to flow the baits were changed every 10minutes, I managed to catch an old trace which was snagged and was too far out for me to get (no waders, rushed out) which meant i lost a lead. I was having no luck so I put on a thin slice of mackeral, after a minute the line started to move with the tide which was strange as the tidal flow wasnt that strong yet, so tightened up and struck, the plaice used the tidal flow and up a short but spirted fight.

26cm plaice

well not much happened after that as the tide started to flow stronger and i changed to 5oz grippers, I knew it was time to leave once the 6oz grippers wouldnt hold bottom. All in all not too bad for a spur of the minute session

the picture isnt great but it is a plaice as it has orange spots, just getting ued to new phone and have set the contrast too dark.
