unsettled weather and quality of fishing

just wondering if anybody has noticed the standard of fishing is better this year than others..ive had more ray this year, earlier and larger than ever, the average size of the pollack, the numbers and thier willingness to take the fly is up on previous years and their seems to be more bass taking flies at the moment in places which generally dont fish until august september than previous years..also ive seen significantly more immature sandeel and far more bird activity than previous years...gonna try the surf beaches this weekend to see if their is some bass going their, usuall dont show up on this specific beach until august so will be interesting........just a thought

i was just having that same thought yesterday with a buddy of mine, especially with the cod and bass this year as im sure CORTAZ or TEACHER would back me up on that,

there are many factors

cleaner waters
restrictions on the commercials
water temp
and I'm sure theres a good few more

ya there seems to be alot more bass at present down this way...wonder is the continiously strong winds and pretty rough sea conditions, again especially down here resulting in less inshore commercial pressure...

Id say the rough conditions and storms over the winter probably helped too. A lot of commercials wouldnt have got out.

I can't say I've noticed an upturn but I only fish once a week. For me and others things seem to have been good in May and poor through june. I don't know if thats a slight up turn in fresh going through and some of winds coming from the north when we've fished. Tralee Bay sounds like its very poor with the lads on the boats not even catching.

I Noticed loads of sandeel very early this year alright but the fishing around here has gone to pot since the weather broke :cry:

fishing heres is very good at the moment, myself and a buddy had 4 bass between us tonight and missed 3 more
