Redbay Pier, Antrim, 19TH June

#1 Post by jpmac »

People: Myself and 3 workmates

Duration: 10.30-6.00pm

Tide: Rising

Weather: Cloudy, windy and then Sunny flat calm

Bait: Rag, makerel, lures

Rigs: Simple Leger rigs

Results: Me: About 8-9 flounder (Palm sized), Couple of dabs, 4 small pollack, 1 Tub gurnard (small), 1 small wrasse, 1 1lb Sea Trout.
Workmates caught a range of small flatties and small pollack

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report: Plenty of bites all fish small. Lots of sand eels around the pier as tide dropped these were under constant attack from mini pollack which live in and around pier - good viewing! Noticed fish breaking surface about 30-40 yards off the pier stuck a lure on (small Abu Krill) and heh presto nice sea trout. Covered in sea lice too obviousily a result of salmon cages in bay. Had'nt the heart to keep the fella (They do tend to get a hammering up these parts!) so slipped him back. Also shoal of mullet cruising around the pier tried getting them to feed on mack no joy
