irish records
Paddy i have just been dusting off the auld trophy and it says in 1989 i cast 227yds it was an Irish fixed spool record then as far as i know it still stands. Back then we only cast with 0.35 line and 150Gram weight so there was no other records set. Most of the English lads who cast fixed spool at the time were back casting and were casting big distances, i never really got into the back casting and stuck with the pendulum cast. Hope this helps.
Kstaff has always been the new black in my eyes anyway!!!!!!!

Cheers for that paul, so there seems to be alot of rocords there for the taking  and as there seems to be a delay on getting started down the curragh (which is totally beyond our control  but still on) if anyone can recommend a venue so we can "just" get started on it would be great all we need is a flattish piece of land around 300-350 metres square, someone must know of somewhere...???
I have spoken to some others including Tom Lillis of IFSA/Sports Council of Ireland, who is also trying to sort us out with a venue in the mean time,
again sorry for the delay but as i said this is beyond my control.... :?

The beach in Sandymount is great if you get a low tide, high tide wouldn't be quite as good 8)

maybe paul might still know? I know there has been alot of development around that neck of the woods lately. In the past when IMASA/Andrew ran it we used sandymount but its far from ideal, wind was always a major factor as it swirls around and rarely blows constant in the one direction plus the sand was a real nightmare, also these days you have everyone from kite surfers to dog walkers, etc,,, idealy we need a field

Paddy,
I will have a drive around my area and see if I can come up with something. Give me a few days.
Just a thought lads, would the 150g record set with 0.35 also be valid for 0.31 :?: The rules state that the minimum diameter of line you can use for 150g is 0.31. There is no maximum, but obviously smaller diameters will help. I'm guessing that the according to the rules the 150 is covered...... Any thoughts?

KEV, the current 150g record was from years ago when 150g had to be cast on .35 there has not been a official court to cast on since the line dia was dropped to .31 so it there for the taking..
ROADRUNNER, yes exactly, and as it get beaten it moves up.
here are the UK records:

Hey Paddy,
Would that mean that if I were to cast 150g with anything over 0.31 it would not count. I understand that the record is there for the taking now that 0.31 is in place for 150g....... You still have to get the fecking lead to travel past 277 yards though :D Not happening for me. Looking at the UKSF site they have declared the 0.35 record obselete.

Hi Guys,
Just looking at the results of the Emerald Masters on the ICSF website. I also noticed that Brendan Begley might have the Irish record at 18g fixed spool. It is described as Spinning. His distance was 77.31 Meters. The mulitplier "Double handed" at 18g only had one entry for Ireland and that was Russle Whiteman with a distance of 55.44 Meters. I think this is our record for the next couple of weeks.

Not bad considering that was only the 2nd time we ever chucked the 100g,, 8) so yes i suppose your right about john,s cast the the EWM last year, that would also mean the Pete Thain has the all comers record of 234metres  now theres somthing for you to beat andrew
Regarding the 150g on .35 i will find out if it is obselete on owr end and let you know asap.

Paddy our contact for the trinity playing fields was the late great Al Devine sadly he has passed away a few years ago. I don't know if you have heard of him but he introduced the pendulum cast to this country back in the early eighty's. He was good friends with John Holden in the seventy's and learned the pendulum cast from him he dually taught me and a lot of other lads.
