People:JW and I
Duration: noon to 7pm
Tide: In at 7pm ish
Weather: Bakin!
Bait:Mackeral and some peeler..
Rigs: Running leger with flappers, 3 hook paternoster, shamrock tackle ray rig.
Results: 2 Thornies, loadsa dogs, dabs, whiting,pollack,pouting..
Report: We returned back to our mark on the Bennet Bank, main target being tope. We had sufficient macks for bait in about 5 minutes.
No tope showed, but at about 3pm JW was in to a serious enough fish which was not going to come to boat in the strong tide. We slipped from the anchor (leaving it buoyed), and had a nice Thornie of about 15 lbs in a few minutes later.
We must have boated 40 or so doggies, some of which weren't even hooked, just very reluctant to release the mack flapper. I picked up a smaller thornie as well, plus dabs on a scratcing rog. We did a quick drift over a wreck getting some whiting, pollack and a pout. Great day to be out...
