Report:
started out wanting to fish the evening tide on monday in blackhead - turns out my mate had got 2 more heads interested and they wanted to do camping etc. - so after wasting the customery 3 hours for the change of plan and venue - got to fanore on the top of the tide
next stumling block was the bear gryls, ray mears wannabes - wanted a fire and flat ground to pitch their tents first, rather than fishing - meant we had a walk on our hands to find a suitable spot etc.
the beach still had plenty of swimmers and surfers - but i would have been happy with a cast onto sand from the rocks on the left but no - more clueless walking
a spot was picked and i just started fishing - needless to say the ledges(further to the left of the beach) took loads of gear on us - but it was dark and no point in moving - the others interest waned - and they started cooking
gave up for the night
got up in the morning - and started fishing on the beach at 4 for the incoming tide until 8 - not ONE bite
the two boys had forgotten poles for their tent
stopped off for a bit of reccy on way home for a huss mark in an estury - potential - not a totally wasted morning
was livid got no fishing done really and a blank again - so myself and the original interested party of the 3 went out to salthill - the macks werent going crazy as we had heard in at the pier - but were about - a few maybe 6-7 were caught between the crowd there say of 10
most to floated mack - had only 5 pound line on so it was fun bringing it in
had whole sandeel out far - and the rod tip started bouncing - brought in a huss - about 3 pound on the turn of the tide
mate blanked but i could see he was relieved i had some action - after a fairly disappointing prevous day!
