Hi Beach caster,
Did you find the 13 foot beach much softer than the Big beach. I can't compare as I haven't used the big beach.
I purposely went for the shorter rod so I could swing it off the rocky marks I fish. Its not a rock rod but I've brought decent fish over rough ground with no complaints.

the big beach will have the power to winch most fish up in dirty ground where the beach will not have ,its basically a stiffish match rod for clean and broken ground.,you could use the big beach and put the reel 12"up the butt so you are using a 13ft rod reallly, you can also use heavier leads and bigger baits on the big beach aswell.i think using the beach to haul fish would tell on the rod sonner or later with it breaking probably i just dont think this is what it was designed for to be honest.

it,s a fine rod lots of power but at the same time managable not a poker or a beast of a rod , stiffer than the beach but a fishing rod none the less .as was quoted by julian himself its a fishing rod that can cast,it has done 260 yards on the court and has now taken off big time in america fishing for blue fish and cobia ,both fish with lots of power and grunt but the big beach mastered bioth no problem.trebles of dogs ,conger of 25 lb and above no problem at all.my advice would be if you know someone who has one as for a few chucks and see how it feels.cheers john

i dont think there a person in 50 miles of us who owns a big beach  . i would strongly reccomend against the big beach because it is just too powerful.the roughest work we do around here a carbon metal would cope. i use one a find it powerful enough for anything we are likeley to get around here.
P.S. Speaking of the CM, that is the rod i would recconmend. or a tip tornado sport.
