People:myself, nige and Papa Smirff

Duration:7hrs

Tide: incoming and over high

Weather:wet and windy

Bait:mack squid and sandeel

Rigs:various

Results:thornback ray's, doggies and huss

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report: went for a drive in the morning and ended up on the R488 and decided to stop at gps co-ordinates 52°36'28.84"N 9°42'17.85"W.
yes you got it.. we went to Carrigaholt.
a good days fishing had, would have been better if the rain held off but alas it was not to be..
Good to see a few good sized thornies about the place.. pity though when the tide is in there is no room to cast... didnt stop me though.. i know the rules for crossing the road... look left.. look right... cross.. stop in the middle.. check all directions of road.. start to swing the lead... check roads again.. then cast a nice low arc pendulum.. then proceed to cross back to the gap in the wall and the safety of the shore :shock: ..

i only really know north Clare shore marks...

as for bait down that end.. there is a small tackle shop as your heading into kilkee from ennis ... usually well stocked with bait..
the shop is right beside a petrol station/shop/garage its basically a shed to the side and behind a set of gates so you might not see it straight away..

Almaddy,

The tackle shop is bourkes and I'd recommend not buying his bait through experience and reputation. Kevin Brain (a welshman) that lives near watervile sometimes supplies the other clare shops. Bait is blast frozen and top quality.

If this is where I think it is you did a lot better than me - fished 4 sessions there this time last year for a grand total of a doggie and an undesize flounder
