A spot of Ray fishing

#1 Post by samo »

Deat All,

me and a few of my mates are heading off to do a spot of ray fishing, we were considering Ballyreen in clare but i havent really been gettin great responses, i was just wondering if any of you know if any other areas are fishing for ray any where we dont mind traveling but we dont want to be wasting our time either its a long way from Dublin to Clare and even longer on the way back if you blank

cheers in advance,

Samo.

little killary.. a bit further afield but usually well worth it..

there is also Gurteen (roundstone), but it can be hit and miss, (there is a comp there on saturday, if any are caught i'll let you know)

also Carrigaholt in Co.Clare, either the main beach or further over is College strand can produce some good ray fishing..

ballyreen has been hit and miss lately..

hi samo 2 places in Connemara where I've had rays at the first time of asking - Mweenish Island just to the south of Carna, sandy beach with rocky outcrops, best around low water, or Roundstone harbour wall, fish into the harbour, state of tide seems unimportant, but be prepared to put up with lots of doggies as well

Don't think the inner harbour dries out at LW, I've fished there into a fair depth at LW + 1, but I've only been there twice - maybe it's different on small tides

no it doesnt..

the inner part of the pier on the left does but the end of the pier and the smaller pier on the right doesnt (quite a bit of water off the end of them)
