Braid!

#1 Post by markj »

Hi guys,

Any advice on the type of braid to buy?
For spinning: Pollock, bass etc.
Mullet fishing and for distance casting over clean ground.

Also, has anyone ever heard of half braid half mono?
Mono to fill up the spool a bit first, then braid?

power pro would be my choice, have had double figure ray and conger over 20lbs on it and it has performed really well and casts from a fixed spool really well.

yeah you can front load with mono if its a deep spool

Always put a few meters of mono first before spooling a braid to FS or Multi reel, not as a backing, but to avoid slippage. Some put mono just so that they can fill up the spool with a limited amount of braid since the braid diameter is low.
