Clonakilty Area
Hi Guys, I'm going to be down in Ardfield, Clonakilty next week end. Any hints on shore fishing marks? Any place fishing well at the moment. Also, is there any bait for sale in the area?

Lucky you! Dunnycove bay is very close to ardfield and signposted or the locals will tell you where it is. You can access the end of the point fairly easily. It requires a little bit of hopping from rock to rock but its very very safe and you cant get cut off.
There are very good sized wrasse, which can be caught on crab/ rag. (There are large seaweed beds so use a float or be prepared to lose tackle). Decent sized pollack, again on float or spinning. Probably bass too but it will be out of season. There is a very deep gully on the right and side, i've always assumed there are conger there. At the end of the day you can reward yourself with a pint in O'Mahoneys!
I've never been able to get any bait locally apart form frozen eel in Clon, so i've brought my own.
Apart from there, Rosscarbery has good beach and pier fishing too.
Ill be interested to hear how you get on.
