Hi guys,
Just wondering if anybody has tried these etc... My old Titan gear is looking the worse for wear so I need to replace soon.
Although the Titan was not great waterproof wise it was a warm piece of kit.
Just enquiring how snug these Imax really were compared to Titan? Are they as warm etc...
Many thanks.

i have the imax gear bout 3 years now and have to say its class. never had a problem unless its heavy heavy constant rain. usually wear the top with waders for the shore go out in pretty much any conditions ...and the silopettes on the boat. best invest i have made apart from my tidecutter...
Luck is when preparation meets opportunity..

The titan smocks do tend to let rain in, as do most of the smocks. The titan jackets DONT. Speaking from my own experience the titan jacket is waterproof ( that includes heavy rain ) and windproof. they arent warm, but then thats why god created fleeces. The imax smock is waterproof to a certain degree ( heavy rain is its enemy ). If you are looking at various jackets and smocks just avoid the abu garcia range - useless. Really poor stitching which comes loose on the front pocket and arms, water leaks thru even before the stitching goes. if you are going to buy titan gear you should go thru ebay ( just type in titan and the list of uk.fishing products will come up ) delivery will take 3 days.
I use waders so i know nothing about slopettes.

I'm curious to know why smocks would be less waterproof than jackets. I would have thought that because there is less of a zip to provide for that they would be easier to waterproof.

Read,
Your right on the button, a smock should be easier to make waterproof than a jacket....the problem with the Titam smock is that they dont now "heat tape" the gorge around the neck, that joins the hood to the body, and that is the one place that water will penetrate more than any other....no matter what direction the wind and rain comes, it always runs off the hood to the neck area.
I know Julian (AFAW) had a major problem with the first batch of waterproofs, he did say that the factory got straight onto it and made sure the next lot was ok.....if you do take a chance and buy AFAW, the one thing they have proved is if there is a problem they will accept a return and try to make things right....what more can they do ?
Tom.
