Dunmore East, Waterford, 28/4/07
People:Stuart, Barry Murphy and me
Duration:10am to 5pm
Tide:Low around 11am
Weather:bright. f 4 or 5 at times east
Bait:lug, crab, mack and feathers
Rigs:lots
Results:cod, flounder, pollock, coal fish, pout and an octopus
Report: Had a good day with lots of action. We made a plan yesterday and on arriving in dunmore this morning we were going to head straight to a spot for a ray but decided to stick to the script.
First stop was up river to try for a few flats at low water and the start of the flood. Barry started off with a codling Followed by 4 flounder by me.
1 more cod for Barry and we decided to head for spot 2.
About a mile or so off the hook we were passing a charter and ran out of petrol so while changing to the next tank we had a dip without success so headed out another mile or so before starting our drift.
From this point on I cant remember the exact order of things as we were in fish all the time.
Ended up with around 4 flounder, 30+ cod to 6lbs+ , 20 odd pollock to around 3.5-4lb, 1 pout at around 2lb, 1 herring, lots of greater sand-eel, and close on the last drop Barry pulled out his Secret trace and said that he would get something different. Within a couple of minutes he pulled out a octopus. Jammy git or what.
I know I'm forgetting something but sure Barry will remember. Pics to follow.
Thanks again to the two lads for a great day out.....
