Duration:11:30-12:00

Tide:Full

Weather:warm and foggy

Bait:Feathers adn jelly worms.

Results: 1 Pollack

Report:Was going to go to Lambay island but the fog wasnt clearing. Decided to fish the back of Irelands eye instead. Started using feathers and hooked a few but they all fell off. Changed over to jelly worms and on the first drop I hooked the pollack was only using a light baitcaster rod and it put up a very good scrap on that tackle. First time I caught a fish using jelly worms and is the biggest fish I had in Dublin. Was fishing right at the sea stack at the southern end of the island. For such a short time was very happy with the result.

well doe what sort of jelly did you use ie colour style etc

It was browny red colour with an orange tail and had lots of ribbing along its body. I got it in a pack with loads of other worms. I lost it on the last drop so cant put a picture up sorry.

I got it in the pollack kit on the website(didnt get it from there though) couldnt find any pictures of the actual jelly.

Was up at Lambay myself this morning, some nice Whiting, Pollack and some Ballen Wrasse, only problem was trying to avoid all the diving ribs.

We launched from Skerries and you could not see the Rockabill or Lambay for the mist, but it was not too bad once you got within a couple of miles of both (this is where the chart-plotter pays for itself).

We had to come in early (2.30) in order to catch the tide but some idiot driving a 'Paddywagon' minibus had parked across the slip on the Yellow box blocking both the Lifeboat station and the slipway. We nearly got beached by the time the bus moved - boy did I give him a taste of my mind as did the waiting RNLI man.

No its not like that one the tail was the same but the body had deep ribbing along it. If i had some bait and time im sure i would have caught some more there was people snorkling around where i was as well.

Good stuff. I'm tempted to give it a try myself one of these days in the little open boat, especially with all this nice weather.

I was out in the rib in my avatar its not the best for fishing in but it gets you where you want to be quick enough. We were able to cruise to Irelands eye from Dun Laogherie at 40mph :D :D . It goes about 55mph flat out depending how full it is. :shock: :shock: .

I just have a wee 12 foot open boat that I sometimes use for a little inshore work. Here me with the missus and Nephew in the boat.

This little boat folds onto the roof rack, so I launch in the area that I need to fish. You would need really calm weather, but that's what we have at the moment and sometimes (hopefully) during the summer. I might wait a few weeks until there are a few more pollock about. I am really looking forward to the Pollock and Mackerel on the fly when they are about in numbers.

Looks cool. You could probably get closer to the cliffs as well with that because its not as big as a normal boat. Perfect weather for it now as well.

What were you using for bait?
