Beaches

#1 Post by Livid »

I'm sure this link has probably been posted before but i'm only after finding it and found it quite interesting. It covers a number of beaches both North and South and gives a Water Quality guide along with other useful information for bathers etc, also useful for people planning to take fish home for the table i'd imagine. http://www.goodbeachguide.co.uk/

For my local beach, Ballyholme, it gives the Water quality as follows:-

Combined Sewer Overflow discharge local to this beach. Bathers should be aware of possible pollution for at least 24 hours after heavy rain.
2004 grade: Basic Pass
2005 grade: Failed (caution)
2006 grade: Basic Pass

Surprised it only failed the once to be honest.

Well if Ballyholme is as good as you say, we'll have to give it a proper go this year, preferably at night in the right conditions. Can't wait to see a fish pulled from that beach!
