Fishing off the Aran Islands

Hey Lads, I was on a stags on Inis Mor last year & it looked quite intresting from a fishing point of view, has anybody fished here and if so whats the lie, and any tips or good marks, as we may take a trip this summer??

ive bin there with just a cheap spinning kit and there is LOADS of pollack......dunno about bottom fishing. just watch out as you can get some seirous swell there. heres a useful link.

serious is not the word!!! i will never fish off any of them rock ledges again unless at least 50 yards above sea level. last time i was there and a really calm day watching the sea for a while and all seemed safe. 2 hours later the sea rose at least 10 feet and stopped at my feet!!! never again. there was no wave it just rose?!?!!?! scary!

Thanks for the tips, and that link has got my mouth watering already, there's something about that phrase 'Virgin Territory' that gets me extited, and yes the wife thinks there is something wrong with me-now just got to tell her were off to the west with the lads on a promise of 'Virgin Territory'. :lol: :lol: :shock:

i was going to say something about the Aran islands and virgin territory.. but i might offend..

but i will say this though.. if you can get onto inisheer.. spinning from the pier will produce massive pollock.. and i mean pollock upto 10lbs and bigger...
float fishing from the pier at night is supposed to produce some really big pollock :shock:

i have been told there are a few marks on the east (sheltered side) of the island there are a few marks that fish well and into deep water and onto sand.. i just wasnt told exactly where .. but it is supposed to be in walking distance of the pub
(but considiring that the furthest part of the island is in walking distance it doesnt really help)

there are sandy bottoms off the cliff sides facing the cliffs of moher if you get to inis oir

be prepared to lose a bit of tackle finding them - but if its big pollack your after - happy days - shads rubber fish - spin them all ways and youll be laughing - have never tried on the floor - but you could be surprised

bring your tent with you to inis oir - the site there is well cheap - hot showers a must then 2 mins to the pub - happy days during the summer season
