Not the biggest Tope I caught that day, but definitely the most satisfying, and as such probably my best catch of 2012 and all because I caught it on a Savage Gear Bushwhacker spinning rod and 10lb braid.

Thanks, they're one of my favourite fish. We get tons of them on my patch in May & June. We get them in 30 - 50ft of water and they go like stink. Great craic.

For me it has to be my first bass (53 cm) caught in South Wexford in early September.

@danbrosnan, nice fish. I'd hate to see a situation whereby people felt unwilling to take a nice fish now and again for fear of being villed, but that's for another thread

To be honest we had the two fish on the same trace we just took the picture and put them back, I never gave it much taught but just automatically taught it was a small turbo...

And yes I do keep a few fish for the table, fish is my favourite meal... But I do think people are gone mental about catch and realise, in my opinion its just people reading too many magazines...

But I am all for conservationists because the poaching going on is pure criminal.

If an angler can't cook some of his own catch we might as well sell all our gear...

Anyway 2013 hasn't been a great year so far regarding fishing, so hopefully it gets better
