As was expected, K2 caught about 3/4 of the fish today but i hooked the biggest :D on his rod  he had two rods out but whilst he was pre-occupied, i noticed a thumping bite on his and, as you do, stuck it resulting in a coaly not far off the 1 pound mark. Plenty of small cod around and i do mean small, several ounces at best, all returned safely. Weather was wild bad, i really need to get some waterproof leggings rather than jeans.

where abouts do you fish on donaghadee pier ?
i have tried it a few times with very little joy--just a couple of tiddlers.

i always had more joy in bangor, but it is always bunged......esp. when the lager louts are there trying to fish or catch sea gulls.......i wonder if they know the difference between birds and fish??????????

K2 I was fishing at the Dee pier on Thursday from 14:00-17:30 with some success. Caught several Coalies, 1 Pollock, 2 whiting when the tide was coming in. At one point I decided to spin as I lost my float trace and was getting nibbles every time. I found it really hard to hook the fish though, dont know what i was doing wrong.
As luck would have it my spinning paid off and i reeled in my float trace  I found the whole thing great fun but I could do with some guidance on equipment. I have found 2 ABU Garcia beachcasters which belonged to my grandfather and have recently purchased a ABU Ambassadeur 7200c. Any advice on the best way to set them up would be great.
