At last, caught a bucket full in Cork harbour last tuesday. They were taking traditional coloured feathers, but not those cheapo silver paper rigs. strange. Busy on the bbq since.

Re: Boat Caught Mackerel Reports '12 here...
Went out from Kilkee heading down toward Dunlicky / the castle last Thursday in flat calm water, we just got out of the Bay to find the water bubbling with life so we stopped up and got plenty of small mackerel for bait then carried on our way to find every where we looked u could see small mackerel disturbing the water a couple of time we seen them jump clean out of the water,
We couldn’t resist the temptation to stop every now and then to pick up a few more, Later we headed toward Mutton island where we came across a couple of dozen nice size fish in amongst the many hungry little fellows that we put back by shaking them off the hook rather then handling them… it was hard getting past them to reach the Pollock no matter where we fished,
Ended up with a nice block of frozen mackerel for rubby dubby should I get the chance to go after my first Blue,
Big difference from 2 weeks ago when after a 6 hour trip out all I had to show was one nice size mac and a little fat Pollock,

Re: Boat Caught Mackerel Reports '12 here...
Hit the mother load to night (Fri) about 5 miles off Guileen.
Hunted around for a while getting the odd 1 or 2 but kept an eye out for natures greatest fish finder (gannets).
After about an hour on the water they showed in numbers so I headed out to them.
These boys are the best at what they do, finding food.
The slick form the shoal must have been over a mile long and only about 40 feet wide but it was full of mackerel and herring.
I had over 30 herring.
Herring at this time of the year is crazy.
This planet is goosed…
Everyone get on the next bus off it

Re: Boat Caught Mackerel Reports '12 here...
hi lads bit of a late report was out Sunday in howth at Irelands eye with Arkrose Glen and we were out testing a new fishfinder . the second we got.outside the harbour there was fish every were I mean thousands all the way across to the eye none stop beeping on the.fishfinder we actually taught it was reading wrong or was set wrong so we stopped and just dropped the feathers they didn't even reach the bottom and they were smashed first drop 6 fish mix of macks and my first herring new species for me yeaaaah
we fished for 3 hours and had nearly 400 mack and 80 herring in total keeped a few joeys for bait and herring for eating put rest back it was non stop for 3 hrs we cud of caught all day but enough is enough ti be fair there was a few others out wit little success I out it down to the fish finder.
best trip I ever had water was like glass but u still managed.to get sea sick for 2 hrs straight was fun trying to reel in fish and get sick at same time.
regards
Mark
