Er.....no.

I gave my opinion that the fish was not in fact a golden grey mullet, and with the link i posted and the other replys by other people posted he will be able to identify a golden grey mullet if(or should i say when) he catches one in future. There is no point in being under the delusion that you have caught something you haven't actually caught. Its something to aim for in the future.

dan, if you did find that comment harsh and uncalled for then just drop me a pm and i'll remove it at once. well done on the mullet anyway.

[quote="eric"]hold on a minute gannet, i quote
'With the advent of global warming our waters are becoming more and more frequented by warm water species of marine life'. doesn't global warming predict the melting of the polar ice caps, ice bergs and glaciers in the arctic?? surely this melt water would temporarily cool our surrounding waters due to our proximity to the arctic.
-------
As I understand it Eric, the melting of the polar ice caps due to global warming has no significant affect on the North Atlantic, the temperature of which has increased over the past ten years.

i always thought that the thicklipped mullet had them down the body, the one i got never, there was only one on each side of the gill cover. i defo know the one that i'm holding is a thicklipped mullet.

this is aimed at anyone(you know who you are) who has been following this thread and thinks myself and some others are being hard on dan. :o

if you read the replies carefully you will notice that nobody has said anything to dan that hasn`t been constructive.im sure that dan doesn`t think we`re being jealous or hard on him.
i`ve posted advice on how to correctly ID mullet, which he didn`t take offence to by the way. :?
how is that giving him a hard time :?:

myself, eric and alex have gave our opinions as to whether is was a golden grey or a thick lipped, should we not give our opinions :?:
dan now knows how to correctly ID mullet and he`s prob busting a gut to get out there and prove us wrong
i personally hope he does.
i dont pretend to be an expert on mullet,in fact i`ve only been fishing for them for 3 years but i`ve put alot of effort in to learning as much as i could about my choosen target species(they`re all i`ve fished for during the past 3 years)
while i`ve been "learning" about mullet i`ve listened to other peoples advice with great enthusiasm.some of its been rubbish but some of its been sound and has helped me greatly.
i know alex(fishinmidget) has been fishing for mullet longer than me and i would gladly take in any advice he has about the species and the same goes for eric.
they are both very knowledgeable anglers(my god it hurt to say that  only joking lads   ) and im sure dan will take in everything he has been told and use it to his advantage in his search for a pb mullet this year.

anyway all im trying to say is that if everyone could please read other peoples posts carefully before saying anything.
this is a great site for beginners and old timers alike,we`re all here to learn from each other so lets not create a situation where nobody will give advice for fear of being accused of jealousy or other such rubbish.
we`re all entitled to our opinions and just cos some of you dont aggree with them it doesn`t mean they`re wrong.

as i said in an earlier post good luck with the mullet this year dan.
your uncle drew has been threatening to come over to strangford for the last two years for a mullet session but im still waiting for him to get his finger out
if you are heading over gimmie a shout and i`ll put you on to some bigger mullet,as long as you dont show me up

my uncle drew wanted to get over last year i think, dont think he has the patience mind ya
only good anglers catch mullet     #
my brother got one before him (and thats saying something)
had a go at it myself in strangford i managed to hook one but missed it, sure now i've had 3 i will hopefully get one next year and hopefully it will be bigger   which i'm sure it will be.

i dont know if i put a report on about my last session after them at millisle at the end of october, had one coming in was a good 4lb+ but the size 10 hook pulled out as i was bringing it to the net, this was across from the borstal down at the rocks. used a coarse fishing groundbait (sensas super 3000 bream and brown crumb) mixed with mackerel and maggots and chunks of bread. but they dont count unless you get them into the net.
