Great result Cathal, that's a lovely looking bass in particular. My pb flounder is also 39cm but if I remember correctly it was well short of 1.5lb.

Very little happened on yesterday evenings tide, it looked the part but several anglers only managed a couple of rockling and a couple of modest flounder.

Was a lovely bass John, super order. Yeah this flattie, to be precise about it, it was 38.5cm long and 1lb 7.5ounces. Weighed on a good set of kitchen scales. The bass was about a quarter of an ounce under 3lb. It was about 2mm off 50cm, which was a bit of a surprise, I didnt think it'd be the 50.birdseye wrote:Well done.

Cheers Plumster, I dont think the bass are met very often on these north coast beaches in summer, I havent tried it myself, but I havent heard a lot of talk about it either. I think they start featuring in anglers catches from September through to now, this years success is my first this far north so I dont have a pile of experience of it. Yeah it was a lovely condition fish, they really are lovely fish, no wonder they fascinate people so much- good fighters, good eaters and keen to take lures and flies. Great fish from an angling point of view. Pity last night didnt produce.chuckaroo wrote:a little red letter session Cathal!

Cheers Kev, its been an eye openner of a winter. Put a bit of time in since the first bass as you might imagine and scored a 2nd time. But I didnt report the blanks and handful of tiddlers in the interim. It took quite a few treks to hit the jackpot, but sure thats what it takes. Nice one mate, the bass is a nice deep fish and that flounder looks massive in the pics. Keep them coming and it is nice to see and hear about a few fish up that way again.
