cheers to lucky for organising that trip!

what an amazing buzz - class bunch of lads and an amazing skipper - really great crack.

earlier in the day was failing to hit into the pollack til kevin set me up with the leadhead and jeelies - soon after i was in, and another to follow - two decent pollack and a great scrap on the spinnin rod.

when me moved to the spot for the spurdogs i was still nattering in the cabin when the first fish was landed - seemed like the baits where barely in the water!!

didnt have too long to wait myself before i was into my first ever Spurdog!! :-) - jeez they are serious fish :-) - who needs to go to the gym for a workout when you can send yer pulse racing landing one of them fellas. the fishing really was thick and fast - and seeing one of the Dublin Lads landing a spur on the light gear looked like such as buzz, i switched my trace over to the spinning rod and sent another bait to the bottom! holy s**t a spur on the spinning rod is one hell of a fight!

the Albino spur was amazing - i mean what are the odds - what a catch for pat - definielty one to remeber - and a fish of lifetime.

great to see them go back too, amazingly powerfull and beautiful creatures

ended the day with 2 decent pollack and 9 spurdog!!, with kevin reckloning at least 3 or 4 of them were into double figures :-)

an brilliant to be greeted by bertie the heron on our return - he made short work of the Makeral i threw him

brilliant day and thanks again lucky for organising it and to kevin for puttin us on the fish.

great day!
that has to be the most unusual fish I have ever seen, let alone caught.it weighed about 5lbs and was caught on a running ledger,4/0 hook, homemade wire trace, and 30lb braid. After catching 6 on the heavy rod,I caught one on the spinning rod.
spurdogs are an ideal light-line target,I look forward to the next session after them.
Glad to meet everyone, good crack ,good weather and excellent fishing, thanks Lucky!

Congrats to Pat on his amazing albino spurdog.

It would appear to be a first case of albinism noted in spurdog. However, I have come across previous records of albinism in LSDs and Tope and other elasmobranchs e.g. thornback ray.

Do you have any more specifics on the albino spurdogfish ?

Total Length
Weight
Sex
Depth of capture
Date of capture
Location of capture

Was the specimen retained or released ?

I would like to hear from any anglers who have caught any unusual fish and/or species

all we have are the photos.the fish was returned ASAP to avoid stress. she was
hardly a minute out of the water.Taking her to the aquarium in galway was mentioned
but Kevin figured it would take too long and her survival chances would be slim.
