Century rods love them or hate them?

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

i actually dont like zziplex all that much, i dont like the hsm despite the fact their more popular than lidle rods these days, i despise the tf 50/50 and consider it the worst rod zziplex ever made, dbrock will agree with me on that one. i still believe for fishing daiwa and conoflex make the best multiplier rods. however im eager to try kstaff aa match if he likes it il probably like it  i dont think ive ever seen jp with a century rod, jp uses zziplex

I disagree with you here eric. I think the worst zziplex rod ever made by a long way is the 3500.

point taken i could however, safetly swap a 50/50 for a pool of vomit and feel i done well though. no keith i tried yours and thought maybe i didnt get a good feel of it. then denis got one and we went down down to killiney beach had a few more casts and gave up. ian knight also had a few chucks and didnt like it. the rod eventually found itself back in viking in bray in a few days.

Well I own 4 Anyfish Anywhere rods.. I believe the higher band (red Whippings) are up there with the best of them.. I would love to try the new match and the only reason i dont use the old AA match anymore is because of spigot wore away... I also get on really well with the Big Beach and the Beach.
People get too attached to rods and think you are slegging them off just because they have that certain model... the way I look at it, because im 6ft5 i might find a certain rod easier or more difficult than say a 5ft10 person. horses for courses.. I have stated before I like the rod that catches me the most fish! and that has always been the AA Surf... It has magical fish pulling power

i have and have used a few rods, find centurys nice but a tad heavy, enjoy the action of zziplex better, find diawa eaier to fish with and the aa match and k2 extreme are great match rods, if i had to pick one rod to use it will be my primo synchro xl and yes its a ZZIPLEX and the best rod i own

they are just another fishing rod ,at the end of the day i couldnt give a toss what name is on the rod or if its made in china or england or timbuck two ,can it throw a lead ,can i see bites at distance and will it fit in my van ? i think anyone who dismisses a rod because of a sticker ,or has too have a rod because someone cast 300 yards with it may need to seek help ,if you cant think for yourself when it comes to picking a rod you havnt much hope in outsmarting a fish, that goes for all of you not just anyone in particular !as for snapping rods i think bad casting styles can account for alot of this so just remember lads keep it smoooooooth

Good stuff lads lively debate, I have some zzippys too i use these fishing all the time and rate them very highly, but i dont think Centurys these days are as bad as there made out to be. Its funny how centurys and conoflex all have their fans but every one loves Zziplex 8)

me too  i dont think im dismissing a rod because of its label, ive tried the bb, the crest, tt match, tt super match, kompressor sport and the sre, they're all gank. the sre is probably the best rod ive tried out of them but for what it is is far too heavy and is outdated from the likes of grauvell and ultramarine. ive tried a shed load of rods and everyone has there own style of casting which in turn a particular stlye of rod will suit. for me it isnt a century! or the majority of zzipies. zzipies make casting rods, conoflex and daiwa make fishing rods!

I have a century Kompressor s and a conoflex celtic tiger and a penn sidewinder evo 1 i rate them all, but im getting a Zziplex HSM because of its better bite detection, having said that they all have their good and bad points. The century and the conoflex i have because i like them so it dosent matter what others think of them, they do the job for me the penn i have becvause it was the first rod i bought after getting back into fishing and still does its job on ocasions. The Zziplex im getting because ive always wanted one and i decided to treat myself plus it has good reviews from people that have used it. Simple fact is its alright listening to what others think but the only opinion on a rod or brand of rod that realy matters (gets me to open my wallet) is my own, then again everyone to their own.

As for your "zip softer more user friendly" statement, so you admit centurys are not so user friendly? too stiff? and more difficult to cast? or maybe your just not doing it right......

getting a bit heated this one!

People go through phases... I know of a tackle shop that they just cant sell any conoflexes anymore because people want the new zzippy's or Century..
How many people can actually really tell the difference between the top end rod when you are only casting 50 yards into the surf in most match conditions.

its called hsmightous, its been affecting the majority of the higher angling public in recent times. round ourway, croppyboy, tonyfella, dbrock, bigsod, lovetofish, amongst many others. i feel a feever coming and the only cure is more.... zziplex :D

only recently got my first century's. 2x ttm and tts. have to say so far im impressed with them.currently no zzippy's, had a 3500 for years which i loved but sold for a longer match rod. had a powertex bass, hated it! also had a gs special match.... hated it too! having said that i have cast some of the 'beefier' rods from zziplex and got on quite fine with them.
have had a conoflex highlander for years, wouldnt part with it.... my first custom built rod..
also have a pair of source estuary match which have to say are a pleasure to use.
add to that grauvells, anyfish anywhere, greys, penn and daiwas, i generally can find rods that suit me from each maufacturer, im not purely drawn to one...
Not the BigPhil from Irish Angler mag, I'm the original, i swear!!!!
