Im gonna buck the trend. Born and bred in Dublin and fish quite a lot but also do quiet a bit of fishing out West. I would say East at night and the West during the day :) I nearly never blank in the West, yet day time fishing in Dublin/Wicklow with a load of weed has been known to give me the cheque book and pen.

GFKelly I do my discovering of shore marks (met you at one a few months ago) out West and stick to the usual or thereabouts in Dublin/Wicklow.

As for El Salmo well there aint nothing like the West I'm afraid, nothing like it at all :)

Having lived in Clare, south Dublin/Bray, west Waterford, and now north Mayo, I'd agree with some of the above comments. There are a huge amount of unexplored marks around here, mainly because the game fishing is so good and the level of local sea angling expertise is - at the moment - a bit unsophisticated. I do miss the South coast bass all the same - they are here, but sparse and unco-operative so far :(
