you may call it arrogance but i dont see why some skippers come so close to the pier especialy as its not the pier they tie up on.The vast majority of boats pass by without needing to reel in to avoid them, i didnt expect the boat to snag the line and so was not thinking about reeling in.I have the height of respecet for commercial fishermen who go to sea in all weathers and im not saying all boats engage in this practice, but some do and have lost gear here before in similar circumstances.
your just rite mate for standing up to them dont let them walk over the top of you.if they where not out catchin all the fish we mite stand a chance from the shore. Eg_like if the go over there quota for i certain fish and catch more they just throw them back dead its a joke really.
your dead rigth bigsod i am from wicklow and fish both shore and boat there is no need to come close to the piers in wicklow harbour as the deep water is in the middle of the entrance to harbour unless you are actin the bo**ox all the local boats know this and it is only the wan*kbags that have been ran from other ports close by that come close to the harbour because they havin a clue dont give that crap about been out at sea and wantin to see dry land this is not the berring sea any boats out of wicklow are only a couple of miles out
