That basking shark sighting was me, and if it had been a blue, it would have towed the boat to Wales, probably. :lol: I don't know whether my bite off was a blue or a seal or porpoise, but I've just made up a couple of traces with 200lb wire....... 8)

Dougie from Hewetsons in Westport, whose normally a good source of yarn as well as braid, will tell anyone who will listen how he has had 200 lb mono bitten through on several occasions fishing the Bills Rocks out past Clew Bay. Only species that might be able to do that is halibut if you ask me, but he swears it was sharks, so you have been warned! :wink:

well lads i just got information from a very reliable source on blue sharks that where caught in the Irish sea on rod and line, off the Isle of Man and off holyhead to be more precise.

so roll on the end of the year :D :D
