Browns island Cobh Co Cork

Hi All,

Tomorrow is my day off, and I plan to fish on a place where I never went: browns island, near Fot, Cobh. However, I cnt';t find on the map how to go there exactly, I know the entry of Fota and then....??? Has anybody ever fished over there? Reports follows tomorrow

species to be found are flounder, silver eel, dogs, and the odd bass

good map donal, i can see my king rag, jumbo lug, peeler, maddie and white mark on it (all within a 100m square area). co-ordinates not for sale

by the way i forgot to mention, any time i fished that browns island mark i was plagued to epic proportions by crab, also from memory, the tide can cut you off on a bigger tide

originally from that neck of the woods, even though i havent been that way in a long long time, after reading those directions i can picture every yard of the road. better than any satnav. excellent direction.

by the way if you do get out fishing in browns island please let me know how you got on.

Would'nt try these directions now you'll just run into a stone wall. Since they started to build, the now abandoned Amgen plant, the turn off after Carrigtwohill is now blocked off.

Thanks all for the info! especially donal for the exc. map.
BUT... today in the late afternoon, i got a PM, that man adviced me strongly NOT to go there. For several reasons: tricky place, lots of weed, not big catch and polluted area!
So, tomorrow is my day off and after 30 years of (sea)angling all over the world ( I'm belgian, living in ballincollig for 4 years but before in 6 different countries), the only thing in what I'm interested is... 4,5 hours relaxed fishing, no headache, some nice fish, improving my technics, enjoying the nature, the wind, the sea, the air,....and personnaly i prefer the spots where not many people are going.
I know a couple of those spots like Crosshaven, Kinsale, Ballycotton ( not the pier but further on), Clonakilty, and a spot that I found two weeks ago, sandycove. And this last one is one of my favourits now. Went over there last week and couldn't fish with two rods, to many baits. catched flounder and whiting by incoming tide and squid or squid/mqckerel qs bait. Tomorrow I go back to sandycove and will use the lug as well.
When you come in sandicove, the island is on your left. At the end of the wall, there's a little cottage and a foothpad. My classic , grey motorcycle stays there. follow the foothpad till the end, lovely spot. Sand ground, not many rocks. Thinks it's an excellent spot as well for the bass, but didn't fish them yet. Tomorrow i let you know how were going on. I go from 3pm till 7 pm, HT at 6pm
