Killiney to Coliemore Fri 5th & Sat 6th

#1 Post by Jah Rastafari Fishingclub »

People: Me & Roger

Duration: 6hrs Friday & 9hrs Saturday

Tide:

Weather: Fine, light southerly breezes, No rain.

Bait: Rag, mussel, frozen peelers, fresh mackerel.

Rigs: 2 hook flappers, 1 hook bombs. various lures & spinners.

Results: Friday on my own: 6 doggies, 1 cod, 3 dabs, 2 whiting, 11 mackerel.
Saturday Me & Roger: 11 doggies, 8 mackerel, 4 wrasse, 2 dabs, 2 whiting, 1 cod, 1 starfish.

Catch and Release:: Kept 6 mackerel for bait over the two days. Everything else went back safely.

Report: Headed to Killiney last Friday afternoon to see if I could catch anything ( really looking for a bass, haven't got one ever) and despite some very useful info from Gazo, thanks, had no joy at all....I think it was just too calm and too nice a day. Decided to walk towards Sorrento point and tried fishing various rapalas etc. at whiterock / nudey beach for a while but not joy. There were a few Mr.Burns (think Simpsons) on the beach just in case anybody is thinking eye candy !!!
Rescued springer spaniel who had fallen over a wall into a load of brambles for elderly gent on the way across Sorrento points. Torn to bits and bleeding arrived at Coliemore and stared fishing. About 4 mackerel bashers around but they didn't stay long and soon had a large area to myself. Spent roughly 4 hrs here and was kept rather busy, didn't catch any monsters but an always impressed by the variety of fish you can get here.
Had so much fun on Friday went back out with the bro on Saturday and we had a good day. PJ & Piglet were to join us from the Midlands but didn't make it in the end.

I have 2 nice pics of two beautifully marked wrasse Roger caught at dusk on Saturday, will added them up later from home.

There was a bloke scuba diving on Saturday afternoon and he was taking starfish, sea urchin type things and any living thing off the seabed and passing them up to his mates to keep......Not sure what the point was and it definitely was not ecological sound. It is not the normal behavior from the divers you usually see around this area. Did ask what he thought he was doing but he didn't speak English ? Still fuming thinking about it....Muppet !!!!!!

Eric,

got the crabs in ABC in Marys Abbey just off Capel Street.

Got just two possible bites in about 3 hours in Killiney but you know the way it works as soon as you decide to have a cup of coffee & a sambo......

must orginze a meet sometime and well get you you're bass, weather conditions sounded bad for bait fishing but perfect for spinning for them.

The crabs were velvet and got some good knocks on them around sorrento point / Coliemore. From memory got 2 wrasse and one of the cod on the crab.

When the bait fishing was drawing a blank thought I would have some luck with spinners / lures and gave most of what I had with me a try. Tried Lucky Crafts "live pointer", Rapala countdowns & jointed minnow, dexter wedges and abu tobys .

Thanks a lot for the offer, keep me in mind and we can meet up.
