Rossnowlagh 19th Sept

#1 Post by pete »

People:11 Donegal Bay Sac

Duration:8pm to 12pm

Tide:Flooding

Weather:Mild with F6 to F7 west south west

Bait:Mackerel, lug, maddies

Rigs:Three hook flapper, two hook flapper with flyer

Results:4 flounder, 1 plaice and 1 weaver

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report:Fished club match on Rossnowlagh tonight, was wondering about the sanity though as it was a howling southwest was blasting up onto the beach when we got there.

Fishing was ok although if the surf had been a little lighter we might have seen a few more. The winner had three counting (over 25cm) flounder and three or four returned. Took second with two counting flounder with four other undersize fish returned, including a nasty little weaver :!: Everybody caught fish but it wasn't great for September when you'd kind of expect a bit better fishing of these beaches.

Very mild night though and the wind dropped a bit halfway through the comp making for a pleasant night, plenty of slaggin and banter too. God bless the winter league for taking you out of the house during the week nights :)

Francis won it Sean, the guy with the lighthouse on top of his beach trolly :wink: Lug and mac (might have been supervalu though :lol: ) did the trick for him.

Hi MC was on hols for a while there so only spotting this now. We run the league as the qualifiers to our master angler so in order to get placed you'll need to join. If you want to come along for the crack then by all means your more than welcome. There is usually plenty of banter :wink:

Next fixture is at Mullaghmore on Monday night coming, 8pm start.
