Engine Swap

#1 Post by Jay Doyle »

Lads,

We managed to blow the 40 horse yamaha on the back of our seahog last week, it was 20 years old and I think the guy who sold it to us upped and left Galway and is on a long holiday somewhere - still laughing!

Anyways between the jigs and the reels, we managed to get a 10 year old Yamaha 60 horse PT&T. I was on to Sea hog and the boat will take the engine. Heres the question - would it be a fairly easy swap over? The engine mounting holes appear the same etc. the only difference is that my old engine did not have PT&T, so the console remote will have to be changed over. Other than that, everything is identical to the old engine.

Failing that does anyone know anybody in the Skerries/Northside direction that would do it for us?

Regards,

JD.

Jay - sorry to hear of the bad news. You will find that the people on club powerboat.ie are good for help and advice on boats and engines. That's not to say the crew on here are not helpful. Quite the opposite in fact.
See http://www.powerboat.ie/forums/

Good luck,
P

Jay,
Carrickcraft at Malahide do that sort of thing. My mate had the Lurgan based Carrickcraft do his engine/console changeover and he's well happy with it. I don't know what it cost, but there's no harm ringing them.
