People: me & a buddy

Duration: 5 hours

Tide: top 2 and 3 of the fall

Weather: glorious

Bait: sqiud & mac

Rigs: 3 hook orange muppet animal rigs

Results: between us 7 tope, 9 bull huss & approx 80 dogs

Report: we were out checking out a few marks for an upcoming comp, we hit this spot off greystones and that was were we got the huss & tope, without flogging a dead horse the best rig of the day was the orange animal bashers from shamrock, the huss averaged around the 10 & 12 lbs mark and the biggest tope was 44 lbs a massive male,

Excellent!! Any more pics?

Lovely fish Mick. I was down there yesterday myself and all I got was two dropped runs. I know where all the tope were now!!

Were you anchored or on the drift? If you fancy sharing your mark feel free to pm me.

Cheers,
Ed

i have asked one of the moderators to remove the picture of the tope, i am very pro catch & release and will always return fish to the sea if possible as quickly and with the least amount of stress possible , unfortunately the tope i caught did loose some blood which was not in anyway done with intent just done through the sheer force of a big fish pulling for 20 mins on a 6/0 hook, the fish was returned to the sea and not kept to weigh on the shore as i am not a trophy hunter looking for badges, just an angler who enjoys catching fish and seeing them return back to there depts

for any one interested i got these fish of the fingers outside greystones just on the turn of the slack, the co-ords are 053.11.40N 006.00.00W fishing is in 122ft of water you need to anchor

jim,

i can see why mickey fish might get frustrated. Every time someone posts here sharing fishing information or reports, someone has a go at them over either conservation or safety at sea. Get a job on a trawler for a week and you will see how daft your point about mickey's ling is

Jaysus John we're just having a bit of craic.

Rather that getting that job I'll just stick with this: http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/bull ... php?t=7634

just had a look at the picture in the album and while the picture does show some blood, its surely nothing more than can be expected from a fish that size. I'm sure that if someone caught me by a hook in the mouth i'd bleed that much too.

well done on the superb catch mickeyfish, you really are a credit to the sport. not everyone gets to represent their country at their sport and i believe you only narrowly missed out this year.
