william butler yeats

#1 Post by yorkscoastguy »

hello, just asking for information. about ten years ago i visited ireland and drove down the west coast from ballyshannon. when driving along the coast through sligo we turned off the main road and eventually came to a beach. the beach was quite near to the house where the irish poet, william butler yeats, once lived. where exactly was i? and is the fishing there any good? any information appreciated. pat

It sounds like you were near Lissadell house. Not sure how good the fishing would be.

well yeats country is sligo.. so with that and it being down the road from ballyshannon , my guess is Mullaghmore beach or it could be Lissadell beach..

i know its one of them , just not sure which.. i'm sure someone else might have more current info about fishin on both beaches

Probably be Mullaghmore, its close to the old gothic castle house of Cassiebawn.
