the last few times when I've been snagged and had to pull for a break the line has parted at the leader knot. Its only been happening since I've started using tapered leaders and because they're quite expensive its not something I want to happen too often.
Is there a stronger (relatively easy to tie) knot that most would use for these leaders?

Re shockleader
If you have to pull for a break the weakest point will always be the first to break and this will be at the join with the tapered leader,if your fishing over rough ground it might be best just to use 60 or 70 lb shockleader d irectly to the main line,Ive found the double grinner knot the best for joining two lines of equal breaking strain.

Thanks for the replies.
The beach I was fishing is normally quite clean but for some reason I had to pull for a break 3 times( ) and a tapered leader was all I had. I was thinking the knot I was using(blood knot) musn't have been great but ye recomend the same one.
Will give a double grinner a go and also try to master the bimini (never been bothered to try it before but maybe worth it to save expense).
Thanks again
p.s. Tom, don't worry, wouldn't consider throwing money at the sea by using one over rough ground (knowingly anyway! )
