Greystones 28/8/07

#1 Post by Richie07 »

Fished here for a hour half today, was out that way due to work so threw a rod in the car, tide was low when I got there so threw out a dexter wedge for a bit of distance and pulled in a couple of launce.Changed over to a toby and lost that on a rock so moved off to another spot and put on a Maria Chase as it was looking a bit bassy, first cast pulled in a Mackerel..next cast as it was going by a big rock down a gulley I got a bass about 3lb, nothing after that but I won't complain as a birthday bass is just the tonic  ,kept the mack and put the bass back for rapalajoe to catch :P .

Hi Folks,

I'm new to the forum and have recently moved to Greystones, thinking of heading down fishing this evening or tomorrow.

Can you advise where best to fish, where was the bass caught mentioned as I plan to do some spinning.

Cheers

Hi Earlsie,

No disrespect to yourself but after 2 posts on the site I can't give you an exact location where the fish was caught, I hope you understand as you never know who reads the site. I fish there alot of the time and would hate to see my favourite spots down there crawling with Mackerel bashers, especially around this time of the year, and where Bass are mentioned you have to be careful with exact locations as they are a protected species.
Good luck mate with the fishing and enjoy I wish I lived in Greystones !!

No worries Richie, I fully understand !!

I'm not much of a fisherman to be honest and my last few trips to Kilmore Quay have been fruitless, just looking for an easy trip I guess.

I suppose part of the fun is trial and error,

So do I!! One of my favourite spots during the week, nice and quiet. It's so full of litter though...

I've been there about half a dozen times this year and only got one mackerel. I'll keep trying for that bass (don't worry anyone, it'll go back into the water!!) and pollock.

Good to hear they're there anyway. Thanks for posting Richie (and Joe).
