ballanacourty lighthouse/ 20/8
People:1
Duration:7.15/9.15p.m.
Tide:l.w. @ 5pm.
Weather:bright/breezy
Bait:lures/plugs
Rigs:
Results:3x3lb. bass
Catch and Release:: Yes/ but kept 1
Report:had wanted to fish this mark for a while tryed twice before, could not fish because of weed. missed the first of the tide but there was still a bit of rip, first cast stuck i thought gave it a good tug, and it tugged back, soon had a foulhooked bass landed, next cast lost the kilty. put on a plug lost that, put on another, as it passed the rock i had lost the lures on it stopped, felt the fish let go, this happened most casts for the next hour sometimes it was the rock, sometimes it was a fish.
landed 3 lost 3 and missed 5/6 others also lost 3 lures

I use this on most of my pilot and diving lure.....no problem in most of the snag county, less problem with the kelp but still a problem in weedy area....good penetration and holding/hooking....easier to remove....give me confident to cast them in the snag.....i found out by using less stretching line/braid give a better hook up compare to mono, some times the strike from the fish it self is enuff to drive the hook through....but a big strike will rip the lure from the fish....

Jointed Thunderstick...... Still my favourite lure..
Might be worth a switch to Braid Arthur... There is near zero streach so you can work the lure really well.... It takes a bit of getting used to, but after a little while of using braid, you get to tell when you have hit a rock or some weed and you can stop the retrieve and let the lure float over the snag..... I fish 30lb braid straight through, This give you enough power to pull through weed as well. I will fish 20lb if I know an area well. In gin clear water a flurocarbon leader might be a good idea, but I have yet to bother with it.

Agree with MAC....theres a saying, used a braid for 1 day,u'll like it,use a braid for a month and u'll hate it,keep on using it for another month and u'll fall in love with it.A new braid need time to give in,after a while of using its will perform well.I am using an 8lb braid to get a bit of distance since i am using multi/bait caster with levelwind for plugging, but 10lb and 15lb will do just fine, most of them is 2x of the stated bs on the spool or more.

Hey joe, do the single hooks not spoil the action of the lures? How about surface lures, like walk-the-dog ones? I was a bit concerned that's going to happen. Otherwise I think it's all advantages against the trebles. Where do you get the singles by the way? I remember JimH writing about them somewhere in this forum... Cheers.

Inigo,IMHO and from my experience, the singles wont hampered the action of your lure, changing trebles seem to be to hampered the action most of the times since the weight some of the treble wch is diffrent from the original.I got this hook back home long time ago.Try searching on line but cant get any.I beleived Jim H. know where to get them. Some ppl place the point of the hook facing foward for the foward hook to get a better hook up,i place it backward to avoid getting snag in snag teritory.
Sorry Cortaz for getting out of topic....just want to share some tricks and oppinion with u guys.
