North Wexford Beaches

#1 Post by alby »

People:Me, Anto & Fitzer

Duration:Monday 1pm- 9pm , Friday 9:30 am - 3pm

Tide: up to high and backdown

Weather: Very pleasant, balmy no rain believe it or not

Bait:Peeler, lug, rag and wrapped lug

Rigs: pennels & flappers

Results:bass, codling, smoothhound, tope, eels, dabs & dogs

Catch and Release:: Kept 2 codling on Monday

Report:
Had a week off work so headed out for a couple of sessions on the North Wexford beaches. Fished Monday 13th & Friday 17th.

Monday session was pretty good, fished from 1pm – 9pm. High water was about 1pm. Had fish pretty much all through the day, lots of dogs and codling, a few nice dabs and eels, a pup tope (my first) and a bass for Anto on his first sea fishing trip, pretty good species count and we’ve got a new recruit to the world of sea angling.

Had a sizzling run today first cast and hit into a solid fish, great scrap saw me land a nice 5lb starry smoothie, slow after that besides a few dogs and some bootlace eels then later on with the last of the peelers had another great bite had a lovely little bass that the beaches seem to be throwing up at the moment.

Yeah a few well over 2lbs, good few in around the 1 - 2lb mark too, hopefully the beaches will produce during the winter after a good southerly & easterly, the Gorey bypass makes some of the north wexford beaches accessible in 1hr 20 mins which is dead handy.
